To ensure that we can process all free issue material through our grinding machines we have to first of all ensure that all bars are straight enough to be processed, so we have invested to make sure that we have the necessary straightening capacity to straighten bars up to 220mm dia and in lengths up to 15mtrs long.
We have 1 – 300 tonne press fitted with a 16mtr long bed, 1 - 80 tonne press and 1 - 40 tonne press.
We have the experience required to straighten any grade of material to tight tolerances, typically to make sure bars go through our own centreless grinding machines bars are initially straightened to within 0.030” / 0.020” and for the Marine Shafting that is produced we aim for less than 0.010” TIR (Total Indicator Reading) for all bars above 100mm dia.
